Weekly Roundup 15 May

May 15, 2015

Happy Friday everyone - I hope you're all safe and dry and that crazy storm yesterday. Sorry we didn't end up having a roundup last week. We had some unexpected power outages in the studio with cabling work and had to take an unplanned day away from the computer.

This Saturday we will be at the Tamahere Country Market - just on the main path when you enter - from 8:30 am - 1:00pm. And next weekend we will be at the new Hatch'd Boutique Fair in Auckland which runs from all day Saturday through Sunday. Tickets can be purchased through their website and is located in Ponsonby Central, upstairs in the Sapphire Room.

This weeks roundup is dedicated to, you guessed it, ceramics. As you may have heard me mention before, I have a big soft spot in my heart for handmade ceramics. As a kid I dabbled with the material but never did anything with it. So this winter I thought it was time I found myself a new hobby and signed up to an 8 week course that meets one night a week for 3 hours. I'm three weeks in and completely addicted. Thus far I've created 3 bowls, 1 jug, and 2 beakers. Here are some people who have inspired me along the way.

  1. Karolina Grudniewska of KaroArt in Dublin
  2. Lisa Jones of Pigeon Toe in Portland
  3. Renee Boyd Ceramics in New Zealand
  4. Sam Nichols Pottery in New York
  5. Katia Carletti in Adelaide
  6. Georgia Leiby of Center Ceramics in New York
  7. Robert Gordon Ceramics in Australia

These posts are not promoted, in any way, shape or form. They are simply items we find and like off Etsy and artists we think should receive recognition for their amazing work. Thank you.
